Gift from the Garden for my good friend Spice

You would not believe the excitement I had when I first laid eye upon the Gift from the Garden Stamp Set that Stampin' Up! must have specially made with my good friend in mind.

My dear friend Lauren is an avid gardener and a very good one at that. When I say very good … I mean amazingly good. What that girl can create in a garden is beyond me and it puts my gardening skills to shame. Well, I nearly burst with excitement when I saw her surname used within the sentiments of this stamp set and just had to buy it.

Not being available on pre-order, I had to wait, along with everyone else, until the 2 June to place my order and then await it's arrival. I knew it was never going to arrive in time for her Birthday, or at least not in time for me to create what I had in mind for her card and Birthday present … but I think she'll have forgiven me when she finally opened it and realised.

I used the little flowers from the Cottage Greetings Stamp set and Versamark ink to stamp this cute little background over the entire base of this Pop out Swing Card, that I couldn't resist but make ...

… and added the internal sentiment from the Endless Birthday Wishes Stamp Set. The Wellington Boots remind me of a Ceramic Boot that we gave her a year ago at Easter that she planted up with flourishing flowers.

I couldn't just leave it there …. knowing Lauren as I do, I know that she would happily give gifts from her garden, so a Gift that just keeps giving, was a must for her Birthday … and this was what I came up with, which I hope she likes ...

Let me show you inside the box in more detail …

An array of cards, Thank you Cards, Gift Tags and little plant tags.

Here was my starting point, these cute little 3" square Thank you cards using my new favourite colour, Mint Macaron and my new favourite 'Thanks' sentiment from the Cottage Greetings Stamp Set. The ever so cute flower is from the Builder Tree Punch. I used to love my Itty Bitty trio of flower punches from a few years back and have missed that little flower, but here is my new equivalent, embellished with a Pearl.

I tied up the Thank you cards with some Linen Thread and made some little planter tags using the Handpicked Framelits and some punched out tags using the Washi Tape Punch. Lauren will be able to label up any cuttings or packets of seeds that she may choose to gift. I put Dimensionals on the back of the Washi Tape tags, so that she can add them to whatever she chooses …

… and with the simplicity of these cards, she can always choose to add the Washi tape labels to the little row of flower pots. Some simple dimension to the pots with an added bow of Linen Thread and some embellished flowers to the Blushing Bride boots was all it needed, I just love the simplicity.

In this final card, I once again used a sentiment and flower stems from the Cottage Greetings stamp set and added the water drops from the Sprinkles of Life stamp set, along with some Crystal Effects to make the drops of water more life like.

Can you tell that I thoroughly enjoyed having a play with this set?

To complete the ensemble I made a bundle of little gift tags, that you can see at the front and added some rustic jute that I had laying around.

My Gift is complete … It was hard to part with it I have to say. I'd love to have hung onto it for a while longer, to have enjoyed it myself … but being already overdue for her Birthday, it was put in the hands of Royal Mail to deliver by Special Delivery.

Don't you just love it when you find a gift that is just so perfectly fitting for it's recipient?!

Now if you like this stamp set and what I've come up with, be sure to keep an eye out for a class I shall be hosting in August using it.

I hope you enjoyed this share. I'd love to be able to give you instructions on the internal box measurements, but I failed to jot down the measurements before posting. I am sure that in time, I shall make another of this kind though.

Meanwhile, Happy Belated Birthday Lauren, enjoy the warmer weather and your beautiful garden.

  4. Oh Zoë, You will thoroughly enjoy playing with it, 'cause I did.

    Judi, she most certainly did.

Oh Bibi, thank you for your kind words. I too love the little flowers. There used to be a trio of Punches with a similar flower to this that retired a few years ago, so I was pleased to see the little flower within the Builder Tree Punch. So Cute.

Thank you all for taking the time to pass comment. It is much appreciated xx

  5. Absolutely gorgeous!!! I would LOVE to get the measurements or tutorial on how to make that box, once you can get to it! You know, I saw this stamp set and thought it was adorable, but not sure how many people I know that are avid gardeners...although it is cute enough to use for anyway. What you did was amazing, and I'm sure it was probably one of your friend's favorite gifts!

  6. Hi Happy Stamper, Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving a message and for your lovely comments. I have managed to make something else that I have posted today, using the same size of box. I have included the box measurements for you in my Dinosaur Bingo post. There are no internal dividers as there were in this project and unfortunately I don't have the measurements for this, as I made them as I went along. I will try to come up with something to detail how you create them and tag you in that shortly, but for now I hope the main box measurements will help you along the way. Kind Regards, Mikaela xx http://thecraftyoinkpen.blogspot.co.uk/2015/07/no-bones-about-it-its-dinosaur-bingo.html
